ArrivalWoot! Nothing is as exciting as arriving at midnight! The rush to get the taxi, finding for small changes or there won't be any changes from the taxi driver, the swarming of new changes in the hall when exhaustion has reeked in, and also hoping that the SR is still awake to get the keys!
Well, the very first thing that was new in the hall is that the back phone beside the vending machine has been replaced for one 'the-world-can-hear-you' phone thingy in front of the reception. Every words from the contacted guy would be put through loud speakers, so do I need to when I answer back. Dunno who so smart...
And yeah, carrying 5 luggages from Sydney is no easy job. I took the liberty of 3 hours before boarding time to settle it, carrying my huge space bag, monitor, desktop, trolley luggage and my backbag over from Pyrmont to the central station. And yet I am still rushing for the bus! Lolx! Nothing really went smoothly that Thursday afternoon. I wanted a seafood snack in the fish market: closed at 5.45pm, took the wrong luggage for the first round trip: should put the small ones in the locker as per my 'fool-the-driver' plan to be done as cheaply as possible, wanted a haircut: locked myself out of the apartment, taking half an hour to get the key from the reception. Although saying goodbye to my shop colleagues and my 7-11 friend was part of the plan, spending like 45 mins there wasn't. But getting a A$3.70 bottle free and a desktop strap free more or less compensates for that.
Then began the 15 mins rush to carry the whole 50kg up the bus. Good thin the bus driver is generous enough to allow it, and my hands were sore from the run. I even had to trust an Indian couple to take care of my desktop while I take my luggage from YHA lockers, and I do not want to miss the bus again! Hmmm, just noticed somehow the coaches and me does not go along together very well..
And for those who are 8kua enough to know, the first thing unpacked in my room was my desktop, within the hour. With 'while-waiting-for-the-room-to-cool-down' as an excuse. I even switched it on to go on MSN lolx!
The first dayThe next day was catching up day with friends. In sequence, I caught up with Ji Lu, Zhong in the afternoon, then Don, Jia Yun and Ting Yi during dinner time. The afternoon was spent on a shopping trip, it was to grab a longer ethernet cable for me. Successfully bargained it from A$16 to A$13, only to find out it doesn't work later. Something to do with the price I bought at? Hmm...
NeighbourAnyway, roughly 59% of the population in my hall are first years. And my neighbour Jared from Malaysia, well, I heard lots of stories of him being the siao kind of person. And guess what, when I visited him in his room, he showed me 'Hard Gay', some variety show. Errmmm... my final year ar... >.<
Before closing the night, I went for Disco Bowling, a hall event. And Jared came along after he knew I am going. Eeekk! And an even worse eek later is that 2 games cost $20 bucks!!! Even if the RC subsidised 25% of it, it's still much much much more expensive than Malaysia for a quality that is half as good. Haihz. No need to say, I scored very badly. My skillz gone liao mah? T.T
Chinese New Year EveWas spent at Unilodge! At A&A's new couple 2 storey room. A group of us boys and the Korean girls made the visit over and we had Yee Sang, with smoked salmon! And the amount of salmon we had is a lot! Literally covering everything else as it was put on top, woot! Since only Msians and Sgeans know about this, we had to teach those from China and Korea what to do, and what to say. Basically, anything that is good. No need to say, striking lottery still could be heard, it's been becoming a fav thing >.>
The Second NightIt wasn't a good night's rest for the second night. I woke up every half an hour, either not feeling comfortable or some noise that broke my sleep. The final one was of someone using the electric brush, that somehow come accompanied with a monkey laugh. Wth. So 5.30am I woke, with a generous 2 hours to spare before I hit the bus for the beach. Good thing Jared stayed behind.
Well, to keep things short. Pictures instead!
